There are many dieting fads, advice, tips and tricks available on the market but not many can be seen to make you lose weight. In fact a huge proportion of them don’t have any proper evidence to back the weight loss up. Many claim that dieting is often a losing game for them and most of the things they have tried hasn’t worked, even combined with exercise. While you can’t always blame it on the diet, there are other variables you have to consider as to why they aren’t losing weight. A medical condition for example, like an under active thyroid.
What is HCG?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a hormone found in women during pregnancy, secreted by the placenta to help keep the baby healthy. So looking at it that way, it is a naturally created hormone that many women have in their body at some point in their life.
What has it got to do with dieting?
Here’s the difficult part. Some claim that the HCG isn’t what helps people lose weight but the restrictive diet that accompanies it. You are restricted to a 500 calorie diet (or more) and have certain things you can and cannot eat. Critics are saying that if you drop down to 500 calories you are bound to lose weight. There are a few diets on the market that count calories and reviews are mixed, but there are people who can lose it with just dropping the calories down.
Trust me, I’m a Doctor –
Dr. Emma who created ‘Dr. Emma’s HCG Protocol’ reassures her followers that her findings say otherwise. She doesn’t doubt you can lose weight with just knocking the calories down but what she is trying to get people to understand is how HCG can aid that process.
In 2013 she wrote an article to back up her findings and to set the record straight.
What Dr Emma claims, is that it isn’t the HCG that makes you lose the weight but changes the way your body loses the weight. A lot of people often have issues keeping weight off because when they lose weight, they are losing muscle density. She claims that by using the HCG the body is more selective in what it chooses to get rid of, so fat instead of muscle. In turn this apparently helps you keep the weight off and women have reported to lose about 1lb a day.
Here’s the full article and an interview with Dr Emma herself about her research.
So before you start injecting yourself with it, bear in mind you could lose weight without it.
